MAY DAY! MAY DAY! BE TURNED ON!
Twirl around the Maypole darlings, and dedicate yourselves
to the source of life. Your womb, the fertile earth, an erect
phallus, whatever turns you on. The message here is: be turned
on!

Spring has so very officially sprung and the blend of fire and water
is blooming nature all around us. Has your fire awoken? Are you feeling
wet and juicy? Many of us have forgotten our lusty feminine roots.
Remember the Charge of the Goddess: "all acts of love and pleasure
are my rituals."
May 1st of this year is both the New Moon in Taurus and the day that
marks the height of spring, when our ancient counterparts participated
in sacred ritual honoring the life force that flows between men and
women. Depending on who tells the tale, we get different perspectives
on this Holy Day. Everything that I have read leads me to believe
that at some point in our collective history, we knew how to deeply
bond with the earth, celebrate the life force, and allow it to flow
through us as if we were divine incarnations of the Goddess herself.
Now this is a tradition that needs to be revived! Sanctified sex,
without shame... let us ponder on and invoke such a mystery, shall
we?
New Moon Alignment with Mercury and Ceres
This lunar cycle is all about the earth mama and aligning our thoughts
with her. We start out the cycle with retrograde Mercury in Taurus
right next the the asteroid goddess, Ceres, the great mother. The
Moon and the Sun are also in the fertile sign of Taurus, who's symbol,
in addition to the bull, represents the womb and the fallopian tubes.
This is a wonderful invitation to be with your fertility and to truly
reflect on what in you is longing for the spark of life. Open up that
body of yours and receive the seed of divine germination. Taurus is
all about GETTING IT IN YOUR BODY. Let us embody our truth, own it
as deep in our cells as we possibly can and FEEL GOOD about it sensually
and emotionally.
Growing full with the Moon
As the moon grows toward fullness, allow yourself to become pregnant
with possibility. Let yourself "show" in your fullness of life. Take
your inspiration from pregnant women and let the blood flow through
your tissues and issues of reproduction. Awaken to earthy creative
potential. You are the vessel of life. The moon is half full on May
9th, and this may be a choice point in terms of what creative projects
are truly taking root in your life. Be true to your heart!
The full moon of May 15th is surrounded by cosmically significant
days. (look to Dancing with Heavenly Bodies for more info) The moon
itself will be full at 8:36 pm PDT, and we will be able to witness
a total lunar eclipse as this full figured lady rises in the east.
The lunar eclipse peaks at 8:41, and you may need to be on a hill
to catch the full effect. The moon is in Scorpio and should provide
some pretty juicy eclipse energy. When we have total eclipses, we
have the chance to ask ourselves the question of what do we want to
eclipse in our lives? What is being removed from view? In Scorpio,
this is even a more interesting question, since Scorpio is already
so interested in that world of secrecy, mystery, and intrigue. I suggest
creating some intention and willingness around this full moon since
you may be in for some surprises. Mercury is still retrograde and
Ceres, the great mother, is holding court right next to the Sun as
the silent matron of this lunar cycle. Remember to pay the earth mother
her honor.
Letting it go and learning
After the climax of the full moon, we have the let down and dissolution
into the next cycle. This can be a welcome break after the building
intensity that precedes a full moon. I am often relieved when the
actual full moon peak is passed, because the energy can be polarizing
and unsettling. In the aftermath of this lunar climax, we get the
shift of energy of Mercury going direct and the sun changing signs
into Gemini. This may help to lighten things up and shed some new
perspectives on the lessons we are learning.
