The Afterbirth

last nite i painted
and destroyed my apartment

carpet stained with paint
turpentine aroma so strong
it caused my head to split in two

hands, feet and even my hair
multicolored spectacle

destroyed two
other paintings

this birth was wild
violent and impossible
but born it was

didnt give a damned for cleanliness
security deposits or even
my health for that matter

no this baby came thru me
powered by the spirit world
and like the worst hurricane
turned all around it
into the stoneage

im looking at the painting
hanging on my wall
smooth
beautiful
smiling back at me

i gave it life
and it took mine

My Womb Bled

my vagina itched
my womb bled
i cried

another baby
was born
i carried it in a plastic bag
afterbirth and all
to the artshow

she took you from me
and hung you on a wall
for all to see

you are no longer mine
were you ever?

will the world like you?
was there ever a creation
that isn't beautiful?
but then, I am your mother

'see i have painted you from the debts of my being.  my
lightforce from the divine is now infused into each color,
every stroke i made on the canvas. you are precious to me'

part of me is on that canvas
i have a little less light
but yours has just begun

i looked at my empty bag
and tears of blood poured
down my cheeks
my painting, a death and a birth

Musings

Art is not so much expressing oneself, as it is discovering oneself.
- Anawanitia

The only thing better than singing is more singing.
- Ella Fitzgerald

Stop. Breathe. Allow yourself the luxury of doing nothing for a moment, or an hour, or even a day. It is in emptiness that inspiration will appear.
- Carole Katchen

I don't see why we ever think of what others think of what we do - no matter who they are. Isn't it enough just to express yourself?
- Georgia O'Keeffe

Fried Sugar Throat

Peel me like a pear
I don't care
wear me anyway you want
as long as I'm soft
drawn open
a fried sugar throat
a resting bone
breath like strawberry
and a sore sore throat
so sore I rub it
I love it

Do whatever you want
I don't care
as long as I'm soft
tasting tangerine
caught like a thief
whispering vines
in between teeth

My hands wander
my eyes wander
my heart wanders
I'm fine as long as you
let me go on about with
this sweetness
a fried sugar throat
going sweeter
with every turn

Peel me like a pear
I don't care
spin me round
see what you create
little jewel box handler
wear me anyway you want
I don't care
as long as I'm soft
sore and sweet.
