Katrina Baden, Creator and Director of AMUSEing Art Studios , has been working professionally as a visual artist and
instructor for 17 years. She was regionally awarded at age 15
and has been seriously committed to her personal work as a visual artist and educator ever since.
Hold Good New
She has studied fine art at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland State University, and Bowling Green State University while spending alternate time pursuing her own "visionary process" of creating art.
Stream of Creative Consciousness
Katrina is an advocate for the arts and personal development
and as a teacher strives to spread a comforting and free
creative environment for anyone interested in art, regardless of "experience". Her mission is to help people discover and
accept their own individual process of expressing their artistic voice through exploring art "naturally".

Funkadelicdiva
Working primarily as an oil painter and muralist, Katrina experiments with environments and approaches that challenge her process for creating, Most currently she is painting "live" in public at concerts and music events using the sights, sounds, and collective energy of the environment as inspiration. She works large (using 6ft x 4ft masonite panels) and fast (most pieces are completed as you see them here in 3 to 4 hours) creating an art "experience" where the spontaneous atmosphere dictates the result of the piece and anyone can share and respond to the artistic process. She uses symbolic images, color, and dynamic brushwork as the tools to translate the event from moment to moment. Often the "flow" state in
which the piece evolves will reflect the mood of the music etc., while simultaneously conveying very deep emotions and personal ideas of the artist as well. It is this dual experience
that fuels and satisfies her expressive urges and introspective cravings. And because this process forces her to work within such a small window of time, Katrina finds that it just about eliminates the self critic that can be so destructive to her confidence and level of productivity.

What It Is To Burn
"While academic study is, in my opinion, technically and intellectually crucial, it is just as important that an artist
pursue what he/she is most moved by and drawn to in a
more "natural" fashion, that is relying on emotion and spontaneous instinct. I feel that in order to explore a
medium . . . to truly develop one's own sense of originality,
it is critical that an artist spend equal time learning by "doing", independent of direct influence. There must be a balance however, and creative
work also needs, at times, to be shared and celebrated with
past, present, and
future (children)
artists so that it may
breathe and bloom and become more of itself to the creator,
as well as an inspiration
to whomever it speaks to."

"Creative exploration can lead to finding what one is truly passionate about. . . finding what one truly has a passion for
is what leads to becoming a master "
